yeah that is normally a capacitor issue, I have fixed many to know that when a capacitor fails, you're going to do a few false starts and waiting before it can fill up with charge enough to power on your device. If I remove the battery, plug into AC, and press the power button, then the power light will come on and after a minute or 2 of sitting there in that state, it will beep a few times (sometimes once, sometimes seven, it's very inconsistent) and start right up.". It's a M17xR3, I updated RAM and put in a SSD running windows 7. I bought a used Alienware a couple years ago.
